Goodbye
This is the last post from this blog page. The children in this class move on to Year 3 in the new year 2013.
I have been delighted to be able to show some of the activities these Room 2 children have done on our blog page. I hope you have enjoyed seeing their work.
I am also leaving the school and moving to another area of Auckland to retire from teaching.
I caught up with some of the children that I had in Year 2 in 2008. These children have been Year 6s this year and are now leaving Botany Downs School to move on to different Intermediate Schools in the area next year. We had a photo together before we all go our different ways.
Goodbye to you all.

Shakeout - Earthquake drill
Today we practised an earthquake drill. It was at 9.26am. We had to drop, cover, hold. Lots of other people in New Zealand were doing the practice at the same time. We are glad it wasn't a real earthquake.

LF's Flat Stanley is back from visiting Christchurch
LF's Flat Stanley visited her Grandma and Grandfather in Christchurch. He was hoping there wouldn't be any more earthquakes while he was there. He was interested to see some of the broken buildings and the Christchurch cathedral.
He was pleased that LF's Grandparents looked after him so well and made a new shirt for him.

Stories about Our Motat Trip
Our Trip to Motat
On Monday morning I went to Motat and it was
cool. We went on the tram and we went to the Challenge Zone. We went on a bus
and it was noisy. We saw a tow truck and some cars were on top of the tow
truck. We went under ground and we learnt that trains had coal and coal is
black. Then we had lunch and morning tea. We went to a mirror maze and we saw
old bikes. I think most people liked it. The teachers told us what to do. We
saw some cars and sorted old and new transport. My group was Kendyl’s. We saw a
car with a horn. On the way in nearly everyone was excited. We saw a lot of
cars and buses. It was really fun. I loved the trip. We were hungry and
thirsty. I had my lunch box. I think it was the best trip I have ever been on.
I had yummy food and I loved it. My favourite part of Motat was the tram
because we could see the driver. On the way back there was a train called K900.

Our Trip to Motat
On
Monday morning our class went to Motat. I was in Mrs Kean’s group. First we got
a welcome and then we had morning tea. Then we went to sort old and new stuff,
like buses, trains, cars and milk trucks. Then we went to the Challenge Zone
and we went to the underground train. It was awesome. We saw a lot of bikes and
some were big and small and medium. There was a penny-farthing. It was
fantastic. Then we saw some cars. Some had roofs and some didn’t. Then we had
lunch. I had some yummy food. Then we went to the playground. It was shaped
like a train. Then we saw K900. It was very old. After that we went on the
tram. Then we went back to school. We went on the bus back. It was excellent
and exciting. I loved the Challenge room because you could touch stuff.

Motat story by CM
On
Monday morning I went to school and then we went on the bus. It was noisy.
Everyone was excited. I was excited too. Then we were at Motat. We went into
our room where we had morning tea and lunch. We told the teachers the rules
around Motat. Then we had morning tea. After that we went in a room and we
looked at old transport and new transport. Then we went to see some of the same
things as were in the pictures. Then we went back to the room to have lunch.
After that we went to the mirror maze. We went in the steam train and then we
went on the tram. After that we got on the bus. It got us back to school. My
favourite part of Motat was the mirror maze because it was very hard to get
out.

S-A's Flat Stanley in Worcester
S-A's Flat Stanley had a very interesting visit with S-A's Grandma who lives in Stourport -on-Severn in Worcester. He enjoyed looking at the canals and the barges and visiting the interesting buildings. He found out that Worcestershire sauce comes from there, and that some beautiful china called Royal Worcester is made there too. S-A's Grandma took him for long walks in the beautiful countryside. Flat Stanley loved his visit in Stourport-on-Severn.

ES's Flat Stanley visits Rotorua, New Zealand
ES's Flat Stanley visited Rotorua. He must have got himself into some mischief there as he had to spend some time in the Police station.
He enjoyed looking at the hot pools and boiling mud in Rotorua but he must have got a little bit too close and needed to go to the hospital for a checkup before coming home to ES.
